Spider Man Movie Agreement

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios has become increasingly mysterious; Gone are the days when the studio announced five years of films at a time. All this means, of course, that this new Spider-Man deal is much more mysterious. The two studios reached a compromise in March 1999; Columbia has waived its rights to create a new 007 series in exchange for MGM dropping its claim to Spider-Man. Columbia acquired the rights to all previous scripts in 2000, but only exercised options on the “Cameron material,” that is, both on the final script with several authors and on the subsequent script. Other sources indicate that Columbia`s owner, Sony, agreed to pay $10 million, plus 5% of the gross revenue of all films and half of the revenue from consumer goods. After more than a decade of testing, Spider-Man really went into production and since then, all Spider-Man movies have been distributed by Columbia Pictures, Sony`s main film production holding company. The first three were directed by Sam Raimi, and the reboot and its sequel were directed by Marc Webb. Laura Ziskin was a producer until her death in 2011. The new agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures now includes only two more films.
There will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, which expires in July 2021 and will end Tom Holland`s Spider-Man trilogy, and another Marvel Mystery movie. Both are produced by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios. However, the terms of the agreement have changed slightly; It is said that Disney will now receive 25 percent of the profits from Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, but that it should also pay about a quarter of the production costs. Interestingly, Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman — known as the fierce negotiator — had actually offered up to 25 percent and a co-financing deal, but Marvel and Disney were gone. Given that this is the case, it`s hard not to feel like Sony has won the top side in this renegotiation, with Marvel having finally signed its proposal. . . .
